(24 September 1755, Bayeux - 3 October 1830, Paris) was a French painter of portraits, history paintings and religious paintings. He was heavily influenced by Jacques-Louis David and his style s reminiscent of the antique. Robert Lefevre made his first drawings on the papers of a procureur to whom his father had apprenticed him. With his parents' consent, he abandoned this apprenticeship and walked from Caen to Paris to become a student of Jean-Baptiste Regnault (in whose studio he met and became friends with Charles Paul Landon). At the 1791 Paris Salon he exhibited his Dame en velours noir, the point of departure for his reputation. Lefevre made 1805 the portait empress Josephine. 1807 manufactured the counterpart of emperor Napoleon Louis-Andre-Gabriel Bouchet. Napoleon gave both paintings to the city Aachen 1807, where they are today in the city hall and decorate the entrance hall. Jacopo Amigoni
1685-1752 Italian Jacopo Amigoni Galleries He was born in Naples or Venice. Amigoni initially painted both mythological and religious scenes; but as the panoply of his patrons expanded northward, he began producing many parlour works depicting gods in sensuous languor or games. His style influenced Giuseppe Nogari. Among his pupils were Charles Joseph Flipart, Michelangelo Morlaiter, Pietro Antonio Novelli, Joseph Wagner, and Antonio Zucchi. Starting in 1717, he is documented as working in Bavaria in the Castle of Nymphenburg (1719); in the castle of Schleissheim (1725-1729); and in the Benedictine abbey of Ottobeuren. He returned to Venice in 1726. His Arraignment of Paris hangs in the Villa Pisani at Stra. From 1730 to 1739 he worked in England, in Pown House, Moor Park and in the Theatre of Covent Garden. From there, he helped convince Canaletto to travel to England by telling him of the ample patronage available. From his travel to Paris in 1736, he met the celebrated castrato named Farinelli. Later in Madrid, he was to paint a self-portrait with the singer and entourage. He also encountered the painting of François Lemoine and Boucher. In 1739 he returned to Italy, perhaps to Naples and surely to Montecassino, in whose Abbey existed two canvases (destroyed during World War II). Until 1747, he travelled to Venice to paint for Sigismund Streit, for the Casa Savoia and other buildings of the city. In 1747 he left Italy and established himself in Madrid. There he became court painter to Ferdinand VI of Spain and director of the Royal Academy of Saint Fernando. He died in Madrid.
johan krouthen
född 2 november 1858, död i december 1932, var en svensk idealistisk konstnär. Krouthen föddes i Linköping och var son till handlaren Conrad Krouthen och Hilda Åberg. Släkten Krouthen kom från Norrköping och flera generationer hade arbetat som tenngjutare. Familjenamnet Krut ändrades genom att varubeteckningen Krut-tenn förfranskades till Krouthen. Conrad Krouthen kom till Linköping 1850 och startade en manufakturaffär vid Stora torget. Affären gick bra och 1857 kunde han gifta sig med sömmerskan Hilda Åberg. Krouthen kunde växa upp i ett välmående hem och han fick börja skolan på läroverket i Linköping. Vid 14 års ålder slutade han skolan och började arbeta åt fotografen och målaren Svante Leonard Rydholm som hade en atelje vid St. Larsplan. Krouthen fick lära sig grunderna i både målning och fotografering och vid 16 års ålder började han på Konstakademiens principskola i Stockholm 1875. Den treåriga utbildningen innebar att eleverna fick lära sig att rita av klot och profiler, djur och växter. Efter de tre åren fick Krouthen fortsätta vid akademin. I kursen "Lägre antiken" fick eleverna rita av gipsmodeller, i "Högre antiken" teckna efter levande model och i "Landskapsskolan" fick eleverna måla landskap. Under studietiden sökte sig många elever utanför skolan och Krouthen lärde känna konstnären Edvard Perseus. Perseus var kritisk till utbildningen på akademin och tog med sina elever bland annat till Mariefred och Gripsholms slott för att måla av naturen.
